It's our show week Lion King Families!
Things are about to level up and get busy. Encourage your student to rest, both their bodies and their voices if they sing, when possible.
On Wednesday, I will send out a separate email reminding everyone of the different call times for student groups for each performance.
THANK YOU to everyone who has signed up to volunteer or donate items for this week! If you have any questions, reach out to your lead parent or to Jen Edwards, deejaysweetpea@gmail.com.

4. In-School preview, Wed, 11/19 - Scenes & What to wear
SCENES:

WHO IS CALLED?:
Cast: With the above scenes, I believe all of our cast will be called to perform. Cast will apply their base stage makeup: foundation, eye liner, mascara, lip stick.
Crew: Stage Managers, Stage Crew, Light Crew, Sound Crew, MAYBE Costume Crew -- Students would only wear headpieces or accessories for our in-school show, but we want to see how things go during Dress Rehearsal before making a final call on head pieces.
NO MAKEUP/HAIR CREW, NO PROPS MAKING CREW
WHAT TO WEAR?
We ask that everyone wear their show shirt or a black shirt, black pants/leggings, and their jazz shoes (cast) or non-reflective shoes (Stage Crew).

If needed, Hair/Makeup and Costumes crew will return Tuesday, Nov. 25 to finalize their clean up.

4. In-School preview, Wed, 11/19
We will be performing select scenes from The Lion King JR for the student body on Wed, Nov. 19. This performance is set for the last hour of the school day. Sound crew will miss Periods 6 & 7. Cast, Light Crew, Stage Crew will miss Period 7. Depending on our set list, not all members of the cast may perform at the Preview.
At this time, we are still discussing if Costume or Makeup/Hair Crew will be needed for the performance.
It has come to our attention that a student had a negative experience related to bullying from students outside of the show as a result of last year's in-school performance. We take this issue very seriously and are committed to ensuring that our current production provides a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students.
To be sensitive to past experiences, students will have the option to not participate in the In-School Preview performance. Please discuss this option with your student to determine what is best for them. We ask that parents or students let us know if they will not be participating in the Preview by this Wednesday, so we may plan our scenes accordingly.
Theatre is a rewarding activity that requires bravery and vulnerability. We want every student to walk away from this experience with immense confidence and pride.
We strongly encourage you to remind your student of the following:
- If they experience bullying or any other behavior that makes them feel uncomfortable, they should immediately speak with a guidance counselor, a trusted teacher, or a director. We are here to provide them with the help and support they need.
- Kindness and respect are non-negotiable within our cast and crew.
Thank you for working with us to make this a wonderful and safe experience for every student.
5. T-Shirt distribution help
T-shirts will be ready to pass out this week, but we need up to two volunteers to help distribute shirts during rehearsal! If you can help, please email Mrs. M-T. The goal is to begin passing out shirts at Wednesday's rehearsal.
A list will be posted in Schoology that notes who purchased a shirt. We have a very limited number of shirts that will be available for sale once pre-sold shirts have been passed out.
6. Parent volunteer opportunities & donations
When the SignUp Geniuses are sent out by Jen, please find time to review all of the different volunteer opportunities and donations. This is where our community really comes together to ensure that our backstage areas are monitored and safe and our front of house operates smoothly.
Some volunteer positions are hair, makeup, costumes, box office, concessions, dressing room chaperones, and more. We'll also be collecting donations for our concession stand, alongside the donations for our Dress Rehearsal meals. Donations can be items or monetary-based.
More information and sign ups to come.

REMINDER: 10/15 is an early dismissal day due to Parent Conferences. Students will go home and need to come back to the building for rehearsal and Props Making Crew which begin at 3p.
Students should walk around to the cafeteria exterior door to be let into the building.
We understand if families are unable to provide transportation back to the building and will be lenient with absences for this day.
Linked here and attached below is a list of our cast and the jazz shoe color they need for our show. If your student already has a pair of jazz shoes and it does not match what is on this list, there is no need to buy another pair of shoes! Students can wear what they have.
Mrs. Puderbaugh has asked that all cast members wear their jazz shoes to rehearsal moving forward, including Blocking rehearsals since students will rehearse dance while they are not on stage.
The Theatre Department has some funds to purchase shoes for students. If you would like to use this option, please complete this form by Wed, 10/22.
Ads can be purchased by businesses OR families wishing to feature a personal note and photo of their cast or crew member.
