Layer Basics Exercise
This exercise will teach you how to work with Magic Eraser tool, Move tool and learn how to combine these two images together in Photoshop using Layers.
Step 1
Open Photoshop
Step 2
File Menu > Open and open both Maryland Blue Crab and Maryland Flag images. These photos are available on Schoology to download and use for this exercise.
Step 3
Click in the crab image select the Magic Eraser Tool (Hold down the Shift Key Hit on your Keyboard and then hit the letter E on your Keyboard 2 times to get the magic eraser) and click on the white background color of the crab image. Do this multiple times if needed to erase the background the best you can.
Step 4
Select the Move tool
Click in the center of the crab, hold down the mouse button, hold down the Shift key on the keyboard, drag and drop the eagle to the flag image and let go of the shift key and mouse button at the same time.
Step 5
The crab should now be on the flag image like the photo below.
Step 6
File Menu > Save As
Save this to Your Google Drive folder as Photoshop Layer Basics
Turn into Schoology when finished with this exercise.
