Learn more about Dr. Leiter and Mrs. K. below:
Hello,
My name is Kyler Leiter and I will be teaching your child’s pre-kindergarten class at Carroll Manor Elementary School this school year. I graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and pursued a career in film and television. I worked in advertising as a video editor before moving to Frederick to work as a news producer for a local television station. I started working for FCPS as a substitute teacher in 2015, then as a special education instructional assistant, followed by various long term substitute teaching positions (including special education program assistant, music educator, a self-contained special educator for nonverbal students, and kindergarten), leading up to a full time position in kindergarten, which I taught for four years. This is my fourth year in pre-k and I couldn't be more excited! I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University, earning my Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education, before finishing a Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership at Notre Dame of Maryland University. My dissertation looked at the effect of play on student behaviors in kindergarten classrooms across the county. In my free time, I coach a youth wrestling team (the Jr. Titans). Additionally, I teach courses in the evenings at Mt. St. Mary's University to pre-service teachers and I am a fellow in the Maryland Early Childhood Leadership Program through UMBC. I live in Downtown Frederick and I LOVE coffee, Thai food (Kittiwat Thai Kitchen is the best), and solo traveling. I am very excited about this school year and cannot wait to watch all the kids grow and learn; academically and socially.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me, or reach out via phone call/text message.

(Instructional Assistant)
Hello families,
My name is Kiki Kontos (Mrs. K.). I am the assistant in your child's pre-kindergarten class. I want to take this time to introduce myself! I have four children: three girls and one boy. Three of my children are married, giving me three bonus kids (one daughter-in-law and two son-in-laws) and my youngest got engaged this summer. I am a grandmother to two beautiful baby girls and one handsome boy. I served as a substitute teacher's assistant in many classrooms in the county years ago. I took a break when I opened up a Greek restaurant with my husband in 2008. My husband and I recently retired from the restaurant. I knew I wanted to come back into the school system because of the love I have for serving young students in my community.
I am very much looking forward to working with each of your children and getting to know them on a deeper level!
~Kiki Kontos
