There are several ways for you to get involved within our classroom, including volunteer opportunities, school visits, as well as school events. All these opportunities are OPTIONAL. See below for more information about these opportunities:
If you are interested in spending a half day with us, where you will work and play with the kids in the class, please sign up below.
Please Note: All adults that volunteer will need to complete an FCPS training each academic school year.
Applicants are to:

2. Complete and pass two training modules on Unified Talent;
3. Complete the registration application in the Volunteer Center; and

THANK YOU for considering volunteering in our classroom!
Classroom volunteers will start in the second semester of the school year, allowing students to build independence at school.
Parents and guardians are more than welcome to join us for lunch. We do eat as a class in the cafeteria at an assigned table. If you are interested in coming to lunch, you will need to sign in at the front office. They do require a picture ID. There is no need to communicate with me about a lunch visit. Just show up!
Please Note: In order to join us for lunch, you will need to complete the volunteer training. Please see above for more details.
I ask that you do not attend our scheduled lunch for the first few weeks of school, allowing students to build their independence in the cafeteria.
A Mystery Reader is someone who sends in 3 clues about their child and the class has to guess who it is. Then the parent/guardian surprises the class by coming to read a story of their choosing.
Please Note: You MUST register on the new FCPS volunteer portal, complete the short online training, and submit the paperwork to the office in order to come in as a Mystery Reader (please see Classroom Volunteers above). The front office will not let you into the school building without completing this training. Please Note: It takes a few days to process, so please plan accordingly.
Mystery Reader will be available later in the school year.
We will have three classroom parities (Fall Party, Valentine's Day Party, and Last Day of School Party) during our school year. We will also have one field trip this year, typically in April or May. The location of our field trip is To-Be-Determined. Additionally, we will have a school-wide field day (sports and outdoor activities) towards the end of the year. Parents are more than welcome to volunteer and join us for these events. However, all volunteers MUST complete the volunteer training prior to arriving at school. The front office will not allow you to enter the school building without its completion. See Classroom Volunteer (above section) for more information about the training.
More information about each individual event will be released closer to the dates.
The Parent-Teacher Association is highly involved in the CMES community through the hosting of events and the support of students and teachers. Joining the PTA is a great way to meet other parents and to get involved in our school community. The PTA does not require its members to volunteer (although it is greatly appreciated) and costs $10.00 per member. Those funds help organize fun, after-school event and supports teachers throughout the year. Please see information about the PTA below:
