FCPS Central Office PRIOR to apprentices starting positions.
The Youth Apprenticeship Program accepts applications each semester through four recruitment rounds: Fall, Winter/Spring, Summer/Fall Round 1, and Fall Round 2. Students must complete a separate application for each position they are interested in. All applications should be submitted directly to the student's school-based Work-Based Learning Coordinator by the posted semester deadline.

Description: Job Description for a Physical Therapy Assistant (Simplified)
A Physical Therapy Assistant Apprentice helps ensure that each treatment session runs smoothly by preparing the therapy room according to proper procedures and setting up equipment such as exercise tools, heat and ice therapies, or electrical stimulation devices. They greet patients warmly, assist them in getting ready for therapy, and help address any questions or concerns to ensure comfort and confidence. The apprentice also supports patient learning by demonstrating how to use equipment safely and correctly.
Maintaining confidentiality is essential, and the apprentice follows all HIPAA guidelines to protect patient information. They help keep the therapy environment clean, organized, and safe, sterilizing equipment and managing supplies to ensure the treatment area is always ready. On a daily basis, individuals will set up Haas CNC machines to run production orders using defined tools and fixtures, verify machining programs, and review required documentation such as drawings, job packets, and routers. They will operate machines to complete production orders within established standard times, measure and inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with customer specifications and department quality standards, and prepare completed products for the next production step or shipment through washing, wrapping, and packaging as required. The role requires strict compliance with all health and safety requirements for each operation, timely and accurate completion of production paperwork using scanners and computer systems, and participation in continuous improvement projects within the production environment. Individuals may also assist in other production areas, such as assembly or surface treatment, as needed, while maintaining tooling areas and keeping workspaces clean and organized.
Educational requirements include the ability to successfully pass Phoenix Mecano’s knowledge assessments in reading, writing, and basic math.
