To start off, we wanted to say how much we miss seeing those third grade faces! We miss hearing their stories, seeing their smiles, and working with them! There is a lot of unknown about the situation we are in. However, one thing that we do know is that we are working the hardest that we can to continue teaching your students and keeping the relationships that have come to grow this year!
At the current moment, we will not be back in school until April 24th. All third grade teachers have decided to use Google Classroom as a way to communicate with students starting March 30. This includes updates, videos, check- ins, conversations, and weekly assignments.
All students must join their teachers' new Google Classroom. We know that many students have already used this platform and have classes already with their teachers. Those classes on the site will continue to be there for students to visit back to prior resources. However, the new Google Classroom will be the means of communicating and teaching going forward.
Students will receive all their instruction from their homeroom teachers. Please have your students ONLY join the Google Classroom for their homeroom teacher. Below are the codes to join.

Students' weekly assignments will be posted every Monday on their Google classroom. Daily assignments should not exceed two hours a day. This will be in the form of a document where students will have access to each week's work. By Friday, students will need to turn in their assignments. Teachers will then give a grade to students in each subject based on their work that week.
One goal during this time is to eliminate the transfer of papers. Using Google Classroom will be the most beneficial way to do this. We do know there might be times when you want to send student work. We ask that this all be done digitally. For families that do not have access to a computer, be on the lookout for a Find Out First from FCPS on borrowing chromebooks from the county.
We also know that this is a time of change for not only your students but you as well. Assignments that are given to students should be things that students can complete independently. However, we know that questions will arise from technology to teaching strategies. The third grade team has created a website that will be just for families. This will be a site that is constantly evolving and updating. This resource will be a great place to find information like…
…. And many other questions as they come up! We know that many of you will have a lot of the same questions so this will be a great place to check in often for resources. You can access the site through this link:
Please continue to reach out for any questions or concerns. We will continue to send any updates and answer questions as they come up. We appreciate all your support! TOGETHER... WE WILL!
