About Us
What We Believe
At First Christian Church Puyallup we welcome, affirm, and love.
Communion
The Communion Table is at the center of our faith, and, as we proudly proclaim each and every week, ALL are welcome to the Table.
Baptism
At FCC, we celebrate the individual so we practice “believers baptism” which means you decide when you are ready to be baptized. We practice baptism by immersion, but we honor all forms of baptism, because we recognize the value of diversity in all things.
Scripture
We critically and thoughtfully study scripture as our guide in this fragmented world that we are trying to help heal. All are welcome to participate in Bible study.
Disciples of Christ
We are part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) -- "a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world."
Green Chalice
As a Green Chalice Congregation “our mission is to connect Christian faith, spiritual practice and creation consciousness in order to demonstrate the fullness of God’s shalom.”
Alliance Q
Our Mission as an Open and Affirming Congregation is being a church which welcomes individuals “of all gender expressions and sexual orientations to the table of Christ’s communion and to the full life and leadership of the Christian Church.”
Staff
Pianist: Kerry Yanasak (he/him)
Kerry’s regular full time “gig” is the Director for The Puyallup Main Street Association but has played piano since the 3rd grade and studied music in college. He can be seen, and heard, regularly in Bellevue Square. Kerry’s been playing piano at FCC Puyallup for 25 years and loves being an integral part of worship services.
Administrator: Bunnie Stanton (she/her)
Being a longtime member of FCC Disciples of Christ, Bunnie joined the staff in January of 2001. She has considered it a privilege to belong and serve such a caring and generous congregation.
Pastor: Rev. Sarah Almanza (she/her)
Rev. Sarah Almanza was called to be our full time settled Pastor in August of 2021. Originally from the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas she quickly fell in love with the PNW. She has her Bachelors of Science in Social Work from TCU and her Masters of Divinity from Brite Divinity School. She was ordained in 2015 and has worked in a variety of church settings since 2006. She absolutely loves getting to serve alongside the people of FCC Puyallup.
