The Meridian Varsity Golf team had an impressive showing at the District Championship, finishing second overall with a team score of 301—just behind Kettle Run’s winning score of 292. Senior standout Noah Peng stole the spotlight, becoming the District Individual Champion with an incredible performance, shooting a 6-under-par 65.
This achievement highlights the Mustangs' hard work and skill throughout the season, as they continue to build on their success. The team now sets its sights on the Regional Tournament, taking place next Tuesday, where they will compete against some of the best golfers in the area. Participating in the regional tournament are the top 4 teams in the region; Kettle Run, Culpeper and Goochland, along with the Mustangs. With momentum on their side and Noah leading the way, the Mustangs are ready to take on the challenge and aim for even greater success.

Meridian Field Hockey continues to improve their record and are 8-1-1 — remaining in first place in the district and undefeated in the district and region so far.
In their game against Jackson Reed, Varsity picked up a 6-0 win under Friday night lights with impressive goals from seniors Delaney Flanagan, Lila Deering, and Lucy Hladky.
Fans showed up to support the teams against district rivals Fauquier, where both JV and Varsity captured wins. Varsity worked together on the field to dominate most of the play, with opportunities at the goal and a strong defense. Well into the second quarter, Lucy Hladky gained momentum midfield, making a 20 yard pass to Lila Deering, who carried it 10 yards into the circle for a hard shot into the left corner of the goal. Both teams continued to fight through the second half but the final score was 1-0, and Meridian moved into the first place spot in the district.
Meridian traveled to Sidwell Friends, where both teams finished in a tie. Varsity battled through the game and had several shots on goal. Early in the second half, senior Emily Borum got the goal for Meridian, assisted by Lucy Hladky. Meridian played tough through the second half with defense standing strong against 8 penalty corners, but Sidwell Friends found the goal late in the fourth quarter. After a tough 10 minute overtime, the team walked away with a 1-1 tie.
This week, the Mustangs knocked off district rival Kettle Run 3-0 on Tuesday before dropping their first game of the season to local rival Washington-Liberty. The loss was the first of the year for the Mustangs and they will look to remain undefeated in both district and 3A play with games against Justice and Liberty next week. Please come out to support the Mustangs as they prepare for the stretch run!

The Girls Volleyball team split their games this week, with a 3-0 win over 3A district rival Brentsville on Tuesday. The Girls had a hard fought loss to Millbrook on Thursday. Next week, there is only one game, at Skyline at 7:15pm on Tuesday. Please come to support the Mustangs.

The boys volleyball team had their most successful week in program history, going 3-0 against all local 6A schools. The boys hosted their first ever Senior Night, beating Route 7 rival Marshall 3-2 on Thursday. The Mustangs have a long rest, not playing again until October 9th at West Potomac.

10/5 @ Gettysburg Area High School
The Mustangs took on "the hill" while competing against over 80 schools at the Oatlands Invitational on Saturday! Leading the way for the Mustangs in the Varsity races were Michelle Malheiro for the Girls Team in 205th place and William Anderson 266th for the Boy's Team in Overall, the Girls Team finished in 58th place beating District foes, Warren County, and Skyline. The Boy's Team finished in 85th place beating Regional foe William Monroe.
In the Varsity B races, Hayden Micheal was the top boy, leading Meridian in 169th place and Wendy Abstone led the Girls Team in 106th place! Congrats to William Anderson, Kyle Kuck and Michelle Malheiro for running the 10th, 20th and 24th fastest times for Meridian on the course!

The JV team had a valiant effort at Brentsville on Monday night, but fell short of a victory. The young Mustangs travel to James Wood on Tuesday, 10/1 to take on the Colonials before returning home to face Kettle Run on Tuesday, October 8th.

Last Week: Loss to Culpeper County (30-22)
The Mustangs dropped a heartbreaker last week, losing 30-22 to a stout Culpeper team. Cruz Ruoff threw for 3 TD passes, 2 to Ben Kozbelt and 1 to Alex Jacobson. Jack Mossburg paced the defense with 11 tackles. The Mustangs return to take on rival Brentsville tonight at 7pm, presented by Schwind Fitness. Dress for rain, arrive early and cheer on the Mustangs!

Last Week: Mustangs Hosted Cheer Competition
The Mustangs hosted their first cheer competition in the new Meridian High School and it was a roaring success as they placed 2nd in the 3A/4A division. Teams from 9 different schools competed with Battlefield winning the 5A/6A portion of the competition and the JV portion of the competition. Loudoun County won the 3A/4A bracket. Please come out and support the Mustangs as they do their stunts at all varsity football games!
