Roaring 20’s in 5th grade

Last week we had Roaring 20’s in 5th grade. We did different things in the 5th grade classes like making animal cells, painting, making towers, banking and more.

Assembly Line 

In Mrs. Kerr's class we made animal and plant cells with lots of different treats. We used different snacks like frosting, fruit roll ups, cookies and sprinkles. We learned about the assembly line that Henry Ford used while making Ford cars. We got to work in a factory and have lots of fun.

Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong was a famous jazz musician in the roaring 20’s. In Ms. Knowles' class we made art with watercolor and paper. First, we made a background with the water color and listened to jazz music. Then we drew the instrument we wanted to do and then cut it out. Finally, we glued it onto our paper and added so many last minute touches. 

Banking- don't lose your money!

In Mrs. Damron's class we learned about banking and how to control your money. First we got ice cream passes to act like money that we could spend. We went on our computers and found out what we wanted to buy. Then we went to the bankers to get our loans. We had to use all the money on it and decorated our house with the furniture.

Charles Lindbergh Quiz

In Mrs Beasley's class we did a quiz about Charles Lindbergh. We had to look up the question as fast as we could and then hit the button on the table. We had drinks and if you won you got a special prize. It was really fun to play!

Build That Building

In Mr. Wamsley's class we learned about building tall buildings. We each got a card that had a job on it. We worked in that job to build the best city that we could. By color pattern, teamwork and responsibility. It was really fun knowing what people had to go through. Because of it being 1900’s they didn't have an safety belts or helmets so if you fell,  you died!

We did so much during this 1920’s day. We loved going to all the different class and seeing what we could do with teamwork.

The House Point System

A lot of the teachers give out a lot of house points. I am talking about the main house leaders.These are the ones that i'm talking about: Mr. Michael Wamsley is in Cristata, Mrs. Jennifer Stroud is in Coronata, Mrs.  Mary Beth Thompson is in Gularis, Ms. Ashley Fannin is in Hatchlings, and 

Mrs. Lynn Williams is in Vermilion. I’ve recorded all the House points they have given in 2024. Mr. Wamsley has given out 123 house points, Mrs.Williams has given out 100 house points. Ms. Fannin has given out 200 house points. Ms. Thompson has given out 500 House points and Mrs. Stroud has given out 1,000 House points. These teachers give out house points for good attendance, spinning the wheel, house spirit, being respectful, safe and quiet, having good character, and maybe if somebody visiting gives a compliment you can get a house point! Mrs. Stroud gives you a house point if you finish a technology project in 30 or 40 minutes. These are all ways you can earn house points. All of these houses have certain house cheers. One of the best things about the cheers is that sometimes kids make it up. When you say your cheer you gotta roar it with your house spirit!
