Here I sit….in the car…in the back seat. Today, I am going to see fireworks for the first time ever. I tried begging my father if I could stay at home, but he wouldn’t let me. I heard that one time, a firework was shot up in the air so close that the sparks fell on the people! I definitely do NOT want that happening to me. They’re just so…big! It’s horrifying! But, it’s too late. My car has already pulled up onto the local park’s parking lot. My little brother, Buddy, was super excited though. He zoomed out of the car talking about how big the fireworks would be. That didn’t make me feel ANY better.
Everyone was covered in glow sticks from head to toe, and there were blankets everywhere. Everyone was drinking sparkling water, and sitting with their family. Of course, my dad already found a spot earlier so we wouldn’t have to hunt for one later. My heart raced as it got darker and darker. How scary would it be? Buddy was skipping around, repeating “The fireworks will shoot up soon!”. He was obviously trying to scare me. But it’s too late…the fireworks were here!
A rapid, pink, rocket zoomed into the sky. I shut my eyes quickly waiting for the worst to happen as my heart was beating out of my chest. BOOM! I slowly open my eyes to see beautiful, giant, explosions in the sky! Some were multi-colored, some were only one color, but they were all amazing! Even better, the little sparks that fly everywhere didn’t land on me! Now, I’m kind of glad that dad had taken me here for the New Years fireworks. This is the most amazing sight I’ve ever seen. Happy New Year!
