In 2025, the City of Ottawa updated it's Transportation Master Plan for the first time since 2013. This update resulted in a new prioritized plan for road expansions. Below is a diagram/map illustrating the 2025 plan. Follow this link to see the 2013 version of this road expansion diagram.
Lines on the map in green are existing projects which are committed but not yet constructed as of 2025. Lines in purple are new road projects and grey dashed lines are road widening projects proposed in the TMP and needed by 2046. Totalled together this represents approximately 1B$ of investments in increased road capacity projects.
Lines in red are existing roads to be rebuilt as road 'urbanizations' or 'complete streets'. New vehicular capacity will not be added but sidewalks and/or cycling and in some cases bus transit operations will be improved.
The numbers inside the rectangular boxes are the project costs in m$.
The small numbers in red adjacent to those boxes is the ranking of the projects according to a comprehensive scoring and evaluation process. The rank can be loosely interpreted as the order of priority as of the 2025 date of the plan. These priorities are subject to some shifting for reasons such as practical issues of construction coordination with other nearby projects.
Boxes with black fill background are considered phase 1 to be implemented by 2035 and boxes with blue fill background are phase 2 to to be implemented by 2046.
