Biography
Federica Mantegazzini earned her Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2015, completing her thesis in high-energy physics at CERN. She started to work on low-temperature physics and superconducting sensors during an internship at Heidelberg University, where she remained to pursue her doctoral studies. In 2021, she obtained her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Loredana Gastaldo, focusing on high-resolution cryogenic detectors for neutrino physics.
Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Heidelberg, she joined Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) in Trento in a tenure-track position. There, she established a new research team dedicated to superconducting quantum devices, achieving tenure in 2024. As of 2025, she serves as the Head of the Superconducting Quantum Devices (SQD) Research Unit within FBK’s Centre for Sensors & Devices.
