All full time FBA high school students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of community service (100 for transfer students) in order to meet graduation requirements. Why does FBA have this requirement? Many scholarships require that students have earned service hours in order to qualify for their scholarship. & as a Christian school, we want to serve others! See below for a list of community service options.
Bring your community service form with you on the day you are serving and have your supervisor sign off on your form. Finish completing all of the required fields and have your parent sign on the form too. Once it is complete, turn in the form to the high school office.

Partnering with local high schools, Teen Court is comprised of students serving as attorney’s, jurors, clerks and bailiffs. Student attorneys interview the juvenile offenders and their families to prepare their cases. They present their cases before a jury of students who decide accountability actions for the offense and a path forward for the offender. Beyond court, weekly peer support meetings provide additional opportunities for community service.

Big Cypress National Preserve is a diverse landscape, where one can see cypress and mangroves, alligators, and panther tracks all in one day! Just like the diversity of the land, the National Park Service manages for a diversity of activities within the national preserve that national parks typically do not allow. Volunteers at the preserve can do everything from give a campfire talk to help maintain swamp buggies. They give directions to visitors in our visitor centers, help monitor and maintain trails, remove invasive plants, and so much more.
KidsCAN is a junior volunteer program comprised of local high school students. KidsCAN focuses on community service, leadership development and fundraising to provide college scholarships. College scholarships are offered annually (when funding is available) to graduating high school seniors who have a cancer diagnosis or have a parent or sibling with a cancer diagnosis. Each student is asked to commit to 15 volunteer hours to be part of the club. Community service credit and hours for Bright Futures Scholarships are given for every hour of participation.
St. Matthew’s House provides housing for the homeless, food for the needy and structured prevention and recovery programs. St. Matthew’s relies on volunteers for counter and stock help at their thrift stores, to serve holiday community meals on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter as well as throughout the year, administrative support, to pack groceries and organize food pantry and to hold fundraising events and donation drives for their wish list.
Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Teens age 16 or older are welcome to build homes on our jobsite as long as they have a parent or guardian with them. Younger kids can help by setting up refreshments for volunteers at break time on the jobsite. Habitat can provide house banks for children to collect loose change and cash to be put towards supplies for building homes for hardworking families in need.
Youth Haven is an immediate lifeline of safety, love and compassion for innocent children in crisis and first step in a long journey back to trust, confidence and joy. One of the most important ways kids and families can help is during the holidays and back-to-school season. Many of these children have never had a new backpack or experienced the excitement of opening presents. Kids and families can send holiday cards, purchase gifts for our shelter children, or organize a drive, such as toy drive or food drive, to name a few. Volunteers can also become ambassadors for various activities.
Lead The Way Equine Therapy is a nonprofit organization. They have therapy trained mini horses and offer private visits for kids to come and have personal time with them. They are currently looking for student and parent volunteers.
