At Tates Creek Middle School, we have a long history of having one of the most complicated bell schedules in the district. It was time for that to come to an end, and I am EXTREMELY excited about the creativity that was used to develop the 2023-2024 bell schedule approved at the end of last year.  So let's jump into a few details for you:

1) ALL classes are now 40 minutes long.  

2) ALL students will continue to be offered Arts, Design, Language Acquisition, Commodore Time, and Support periods.

3) The creations of FLEX time. (I know there are lots of questions  here)

What exactly is FLEX?

FLEX time is what I am the most excited about in our new bell structure. This unique offering will allow us to provide additional instructional time to our students who need immediate support on standards while also being an opportunity to extend and enrich kids in content *It is not extended CT time. Adjusting to something new always takes time, and I can assure you our staff will make this time engaging and valuable for our students. We will have an information session at our open house on August 31st to help clarify any misconceptions that may be out there. Until then, here is an article explaining more flex times. Our 21st Century Community Learning Center ' Commodore Crew' is back again this year!! This FREE program provides before and after school programming for TCMS students. Offering daily Homework Help and Enrichment activities for many different interests. For more information and the application please click on the link below.

***Commodore Crew IMPORTANT Information

• Must complete application to be considered (numbers depend on staffing, and needs based)

• Program Orientation/Information

 Zoom Aug 22 (6pm) OR Aug 24 th (5:30pm) ONLY need to attend one.

• Programming begins 3 weeks after the first day of school (Aug 28th)

• Programming ends 2 weeks before school ends (MAY 2024)

• Parents must attend at least 1 Commodore Crew Parent Events per school year (4-5 events offered)

• We ask that students attend a minimum of 2 sessions a week (8 sessions are offered each week)

• Afternoon programming is from 3:55pm-6pm (Monday through Thursday)

• Morning programming is 7:30am - 8:35am (Tuesday through Friday)

• This is NOT AFTERCARE! It's a PROGRAM, students are expected to stay the entire time.

• At this time, we do not know if Bus Transportation home afterschool will be available.
