On Friday, April 13th, FCPS were closed so that teachers could attend the rally in Frankfort to find funding for our public schools in the state budget.

CHICAGO: THANKSGIVING 2017
Museum of Science and Industry: Wow! Right up my alley! Gus was chosen for the Lego 3-minute challenge. He had to go on stage and design a machine to explore a new planet. He was judged on the function, aesthetics, and innovation of his design. Way cool!
Engineering Challenges Abound!! Designing paper bridges, testing a wind resistant building in a wind chamber, and creating tornados in a tube.
At the Shedd Aquarium, we explored lots of aquatic friends. Kate had Buddy with us, Ms. Tipton's class pet, so we took him to visit family in the amphibian section. There was an amazing exhibit of art made with ocean trash. An example of that thought-provoking art is on the right with the clown fish sculpture. It was a powerful reminder that we must work to clean up and protect our Earth's oceans.
Of course, I had to go visit Sue at the Field Museum of Natural Sciences. We got to be miniaturized and travel underground to see what lives underfoot. Our Lego lady posed in front of Sue's amazingly complete fossilized skeleton.
We took a minute to reflect in Cloud Gate (aka "The Bean") in Millennium Park while we were there.
