Kindergarten art is all about exploring art materials and gaining experience. Much of our work will focus on developing fine motor skills and "playing" with the art materials. My goal is to immerse kindergarten students in the process and not get too concerned about the final product. As students progress, we will add more complex procedures and develop emerging symbolic work. At this point, I will ask students to reflect more on their work and we will discuss how artists develop their skills and then add improvements to their work. Students in Kindergarten also gain valuable experience in taking responsibility for their art materials and working collaboratively with peers. The best part is they learn that each one of them is an artist!!
