Hello, my name is Mrs. Peters. This will be my  third  year at Veterans Park Elementary. Prior to teaching at VPE, I have taught 10 years teaching K-5 Elementary Music at Dixie Magnet. Before moving back to Lexington, I taught 8 years at Harmony Leland Elementary in Cobb County, Georgia, and 3 years teaching band at Kennedy Middle, Aiken Middle, and South Aiken High School in Aiken, South Carolina.  I was named KMEA District 7 Music Teacher of the Year for the 2018- 2019 school year.

I was born and raised in Cynthiana, KY.  I graduated from Harrison County High School. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of South Carolina, and my Master's Degree  from the North Georgia College and University in Elementary Education with a Gifted and Talented Endorsement. I held National Board Certification for Elementary Music.

Currently, I live in Lexington with my family. I am married to Ryan Peters. I have two daughters, Kara and Sydney. Kara attends the University of Louisville pursuing a Music Therapy degree. Sydney is attending the University of Kentucky to become an Elementary Educator.

I do have a pet dog. His name is Coach.

My favorite place is the beach. I love Anna Maria Island and St. George Island in Florida.

My favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups or anything chocolate!
