Written Response Prompts
Be sure to answer all parts of this prompt thoroughly. Written responses should be approximately one page in length.
2a. Six Select Original Pieces
i. Introduction - List the title, genre, and medium of each work
ii. Reflection - Include a reflection about each work giving context and relevant background information about the piece. Information highlighting the details of the student’s preparation and artistic process may also be included.
iii. Justification of Curation - Create a written statement describing how and why the student chose to curate these six specific pieces. Include information about how these six works relate to their personal style and artistic vision.
2b. Collaborative Piece
i. Introduction - List the title, genre, medium of the piece
ii. Reflection - Include a reflection detailing the collaborative process used to create the work. Provide an explanation of the submitted evidence of the collaborative process. A clear narrative of the student’s specific contributions to the collaboration must be included, as well as information about the student’s individual preparation and artistic process.
3a. Collaborative Piece
1. For each of the 3 pieces of evidence, students will provide an introduction and brief narrative describing the context and planning process of the artwork, and how those steps influenced the intent and meaning of the draft.
2. Include a final reflection that summarizes how the collective choices and overall processes exhibit the student’s own personal style and artistic vision.
Be sure to answer all parts of this prompt thoroughly. Written responses should be approximately one page in length.
Component 2a. Solo Performance Video
i. Introduction - Include the title and choreographer of the performance piece. Notable facts about the piece and/or short original program notes may also be included.
ii. Reflection - Include a brief reflection about the performance, highlighting the details of the student’s physical and mental preparation and artistic process.
Component 2b. Small Ensemble or Contrasting Solo Performance Video
i. Introduction - Include the title and choreographer of the performance piece. Notable facts about the piece and/or short original program notes may also be included.
ii. Reflection - Include a brief reflection about the performance, highlighting the details of the preparatory (mental and physical), artistic, and collaborative processes (as appropriate for ensemble performance).
Component 3a. Original Choreography
i. Introduction - List the title of the dance, music (title, composer, and performer), and genre or style of the performance piece. Students may also include notable facts about the piece and/or short original program notes.
ii. Reflection - Include a brief reflection about the performance. The reflection must explain choreographic choices, which may include (but does not require) use of media, props, set design, or costuming, and how those choices were used to illustrate the student’s artistic intent. Details about the preparatory, artistic, and collaborative processes may also be included.

ii. Reflection - Include a reflection about each work giving context and relevant background information about the piece. Information highlighting the details of the student’s preparation and artistic process may also be included.
iii. Justification of Curation - Create a written statement describing how and why the student chose to curate these six specific pieces. Include information about how these six works relate to their personal aesthetic and artistic vision.

ii. Reflection - Include a reflection detailing the collaborative process used to create the work. Provide an explanation of the submitted evidence of the collaborative process. A clear narrative of the student’s specific contributions to the collaboration must be included, as well as information about the student’s individual preparation and artistic process.

i. Introduction - Provide context for the chosen option.
ii. Reflection - Include a brief reflection about the chosen option, highlighting the details of the preparatory, artistic, collaborative (as applicable), and creative processes. (Note special instructions with Option 5)

Component 2a. Technical Theatre Design or Construction
i. Introduction - Describe the context of each piece of evidence. Notable facts about the play and/or short original program notes may also be included.
ii. Reflection - Include a brief reflection about the evidence, justifying why design choices were made including details about the student’s preparatory, artistic, and collaborative (when applicable) process.
Component 3a. Original Concept Design
i. Introduction - Include the title and playwright of the play as well as explanation of the work’s theme; character development; or historical, cultural, or physical context. Notable facts about the work and/or short original program notes may also be included.
ii. Reflection - Explain and justify the selection of the technical elements used in the visual concept representation and how those elements connect to the student’s interpretation of the work’s theme; character development; or historical, cultural, or physical context. A brief reflection highlighting the details of the student’s preparation and artistic process may also be included.
Component 3b. Evidence of the Creative Process and Theatrical Excellence

ii. Reflection - Include a brief overall reflection justifying the artistic choices, as well details of the preparatory, artistic, collaborative (as applicable), and creative processes. Provide context for each item submitted for process evidence (Note special instructions with Option 4).

ii. Reflection - Include a brief reflection about the performance, highlighting the details of the student’s preparation, script analysis process, acting choices, and overall artistic process.
