Before the establishment of LTMS Drama and the eventual growth into today’s LEX VAPA Theatre Program, Lexington Middle’s theatrical journey began with the foundational Theatre Club during the 2023–2024 school year. Meeting weekly on Wednesdays after school, this early program provided students with their first organized opportunity to explore performance, creativity, and theatrical collaboration. Sponsored by The Lexington Theatre Company, the club introduced students to valuable theatre education experiences while fostering an early passion for the performing arts. This partnership proved instrumental in planting the seeds for what would become a thriving and expanding theatre program. The Lexington Theatre Company continues to play an important role in our department today, collaborating with our theatre educators to bring professional-level arts instruction and enriching educational opportunities directly into our classrooms. The Theatre Club represents the essential first step in our program’s history—a humble but meaningful beginning that helped spark the vibrant theatrical community we continue to build.
