Friends in Music

The Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra offers an after-school music mentoring program at Leestown.

The weekly program consists of two components for each participant. 1. An after-school small-group music lesson led by mentors from the most advanced CKYO orchestras; and 2. Optional private instrument lessons by a professional music educator. Students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program through the Fayette County Public Schools are offered lesson scholarships.

Through the comprehensive and intense nature of the program as well as the dedication of the mentors and staff, Friends in Music provides a high-quality musical experience for students and helps them develop the interpersonal, professional, and leadership skills to better serve their school and civic communities.

Friends in Music will meet virtually on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:45 each week. When we return to in-person learning, Friends in Music will meet at Leestown from 4:00-5:15 on Wednesdays.
