Megan Weiss
Gifted & Talented Resource Teacher
I love my role at GSE as the Gifted & Talented Resource Teacher! One part of my job is to facilitate the processes of identifying students as gifted (4th and 5th graders) and selecting students for the Primary Talent Pool (Kindergarten-3rd graders). I help teachers differentiate instruction for high achieving students in their classes, but the best part of the job is to provide instruction for students who need additional challenge. I work with students in many areas, including math, dance, social studies, language arts, creativity, science, leadership, drama, and more! My favorite things to teach are critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
I am originally from Michigan but moved to Kentucky to attend Asbury University, and Lexington has been home ever since. This is my 6th year at GSE. Much of my previous teaching experience was in intermediate grades at Tates Creek Elementary in the Gifted & Talented Accelerated Program (GTAP) and at Dixie Elementary. My husband and I have a son and daughter; ages 14 and 11. We love to hike, travel, kayak, and do anything related to music.
These are the Essential Agreements for my classroom. It takes all of us to create the environment we need to learn, grow, and thrive!
