What classes does my student need to graduate?
Students must pass 4 credits = 4 years of English Language Arts classes.
Students must pass 4 years = 4 credits of math to graduate.
Students must pass 3 credits = 3 years of Social Studies classes.
Students must pass 3 credits = 3 years of Science classes.
Students at BSHS must pass 11 electives to graduate. Some are required by the Kentucky Department of Education, some are required for admission to colleges, and some are special requirements of BSHS. There are several other classes offered that are not requirements, but allow students to explore a variety of skills and opportunities.
1 Credit
Kentucky State Requirement: Student must pass a half (0.5) credit = 1 semester of Health
AND
Students must pass a half (0.5) credit = 1 semester of Physical Education (PE)
2 Credits
While not required by the state for graduation credit, it is encouraged for students to pass for admissions to colleges.
2 full classes = 2 years or 2 credits
of a World Lanuage. Both credits must be in the same language classes.
For example: Spanish 1 and Spanish 2.
1 Credit
Kentucky State Requirement: students must pass 1 credit = 1 year of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) class.
BSHS Students can opt out of VPA class by completing 2 full credits = 2 full years of any other "Arts & Humanities" credit.

3-6 credits
As an Academy School, BSHS students must also take CTE courses in their chosen pathway. These courses all count toward the 11 elective credits that students need to graduate.
All BSHS students take Freshmen Seminar for 1 year = 1 credit.
Students then take 2-5 credits in their chosen career pathway.
