Special Note: Dual Credit courses taught in partnership with a post-secondary educational institution will follow the grading policies and procedures outlined by that College or University, in accordance with contractual agreements.
At BSHS, students earn credits each semester and not by the entire year.
This is so that if your student fails one semester of a class, they only have to make up that one semester not the entire year.
Semester 1 (S1) is the Fall Semester. Semester 2 (S2) is the Spring Semester.
New this year is that Practice grades will now be for a grade that affects your student's overall grade in the class. This may look different in different classes, but the category will say "Practice" in Infinite Campus Grades.
Practice grades can be reassessed, as they are tools to help students learn.
Examples:
Homework
Notes or Study Guides
Pre-Planning for projects
Pre-tests
Performance grades are now worth 60% of the overall grade. Performance grades must be completed on the day of the due date* and cannot be reassessed.
Examples:
End of unit exams or tests
Term papers
Large projects
Group presentations
*Exemptions can be made for excused absences, IEP, and 504's.
Final exams make up the last 20% of your student's grades. Final exams must be taken on the scheduled day of the exams*.
*Students who need to take a final exam on a different day due to family travel for the holidays need approval from their Academy Principal two weeks prior to final exams.
