Scaling design quality with excellence in UI execution
Problem Spotify’s anglocentric type system was built without non-Latin scripts in mind
Design systems wrap process and practices that foster collaboration, contribution, and elevate the design language of Spotify’s core consumer apps.
Problem Spotify’s anglocentric type system was built without non-Latin scripts in mind. Tight tracking between letter and negative line-heights create slick tight titles for English and Latin languages. But we discovered overriding these scripts benefit from natural letter-spacing and line-heights.
Relaxing Latin overrides for non-Latin languages matures the platform for global expansion.
