Procurement and Accounts Payable Specialist
An active ADHUS/FAU HS participant for over 17 years
My current position is the Procurement and Account Payable Specialist for FAU Lab Schools. I have been an active volunteer for ADHUS for over 17 years. I started as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional for seven years. Previously, I held various positions instructing reading and mathematics for K-12, including director of KUMON.
Within the last five years, I have completed numerous training sessions/workshops on innovative ways to engage with students as a Paraprofessional and organize and disseminate information as a Procurement and Account Payable Specialist. This includes training in Seesaw, Nearpod, Reading Workshop and Google Applications. My passion for helping students has also extended to maintaining my diabetic care and first aid training so I can assist the nurse in monitoring students' health inside the classroom and on field trips.
I have received a volunteer of excellence award for my involvement with the ADHUS Girl Scout troop. This included helping manage cookie sales and other activities. I am also honored to have received a nomination for the employee of the year for multiple years.
I am incredibly passionate about achieving success from the district level to the individual students. One of my favorite jobs has been assisting in welcoming the students every morning in the carline. Additionally, I have been an aftercare counselor for faculty students, served on the Safety Committee, assisted with the yearbook, and helped with data entry for Family Science projects. I also co-designed our FAU High shirts!
As a Paraprofessional, I have filled a variety of roles, including preparing activities, working with small student groups, and assisting in using Seesaw and other technology platforms. I truly loved creating fun educational Seesaw activities for students. I would also often devote hours to making engaging materials for the Kindergarten students and preparing fun bulletin boards for the students to see when entering the school.
My current role is to ensure our district, school and each classroom has what they need for a successful year. I work directly with FAU procurement to set up new suppliers and purchase supplies or field trips. I help facilitate contracts between suppliers and FAU Lab schools, saving our school as much as possible by asking for discounts or comparing costs. I assist parents with questions about payments regarding meals, field trips and activity fees, and faculty with orders, spend authorizations and expense reports. In summary, my mission is to help the school and students excel in their goals, and I am very grateful to be part of this school and team helping our students achieve greatness!
