The Barnbow Lasses were better off than you would expect. They would receive a salary of £5 a week which is worth £545.05. These women were on the salary of doctors which caused many women to join even though it was incredibly dangerous. They would also have, inside their office, a cafeteria which sold salty bacon, corn beef, stewed tea and bread. 

The uniform at Barnbow was very strict. They were not allowed to enter without danger shoes which didn't have soles and couldn't catch a spark and cause an explosion. They were also forbidden to enter with any metal. They also had to have their hair tied up so it wouldn't catch onto anything.
