Whether you are seeking initial credentialing hours (CASAC, CPP, CPS) or continuing education, our curriculum covers the full continuum of care—from prevention and harm reduction to treatment and recovery

2. Register via Zoom Click the registration link listed below your desired course to reserve your spot in the virtual classroom.
3. Submit Payment (For Paid Courses Only) If your course has a fee, please proceed to our secure payment portal https://www.farnhaminc.org/FFS-Training-Institute.aspx to finalize your registration.
⚠ IMPORTANT: Reference Your Training Title When submitting your payment on the external portal, you must include the specific name of the course (e.g., "Youth Mental Health First Aid" or "SBIRT") in the Course # / Invoice section. This ensures your payment is correctly applied to your registration.
An introductory course exploring the developmental stages of recovery—from stabilization to long-term maintenance. Participants will examine the biological, psychological, and social aspects of recovery and learn to integrate these into a comprehensive relapse prevention plan.

A foundational training focused on peer-led, non-clinical support for individuals utilizing medications like methadone or buprenorphine. This course clarifies the distinction between clinical "treatment" (MAT) and peer-driven "recovery" (MSR).

An evidence-based program equipping adults to support youth (ages 12–18) experiencing mental health challenges. Participants learn a 5-step action plan to provide initial help in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Faces and Voices of Recovery's original advocacy training provides messaging to talk about recovery in a non-stigmatizing way. Conducted by Theresa Knorr at Friends of Recovery Oswego County.

This training is designed specifically for Peer Support Specialists who navigate the unique, often complex space between shared lived experience and professional service. Maintaining healthy boundaries is essential for preventing burnout, ensuring ethical care, and fostering a safe environment for both the peer and the individual being supported. This session provides practical tools to help you define your role, manage emotional labor, and protect your own recovery while helping others.

The Tending the Roots training helps people and organizations understand toxic stress, trauma, and how they can affect everyone. This class also talks about how racism, parts of our environment (like our neighborhoods and schools), and tough experiences are connected, and how things like fairness and justice affect our health. We’ll also learn about things that can help you and others bounce back from hard experiences. By the end of the program, we want everyone to have the knowledge and tools (Previously known as: Trauma-Responsive & Resilience Informed Care Training). You must attend both days to receive credit.

A comprehensive 12-hour evidence-based training focusing on early identification and intervention for substance use disorders. This course provides practical clinical skills to identify at-risk individuals and deliver timely, brief interventions to motivate behavioral change. You must attend all 4 days to receive credit.

Cost: Free
Based on the SAMHSA model, this course explores eight interconnected dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual, occupational, environmental, and financial. Participants will learn to assist clients in developing personalized Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP).

This course dives into the internal mechanics of resistance and the "change paradox". Participants will explore the psychological barriers that stall progress—even when a client is highly motivated—and learn how to address underlying fears and competing priorities that create the illusion of non-compliance.

Just as CPR prepares you to help someone having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis. This FREE, full-day training is designed for older adults and anyone who lives in or serves rural communities—including civic and faith
leaders, healthcare providers, and neighbors. Sponsored by Suicide Prevention Center of New York State and sponsored by the Oswego County Suicide Prevention Coalition.
Presented in Plain Language, this course simplifies complex behavioral theories to help counselors and peers navigate the "messy" middle of the recovery journey. It focuses on ambivalence—the state of having mixed feelings—as the primary obstacle to change and provides foundational tools to help clients resolve internal conflict.

A combined look at the Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change) and the spirit of Motivational Interviewing (MI). This course provides the foundational "OARS" skills (Open questions, Affirmations, Reflections, Summaries) to resolve client ambivalence.

Farnham Family Services is recognized by New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports as an Education and Training Provider (ETP #nd to provide initial certification and continuing education training to professionals in the addictions field. (ETP #1283)
Farnham Family Services is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers. (#SW-0797)
Farnham Family Services is recognized New York State Education Department’s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors. (#MHC-0303)
CE Compliance & Attendance
Full Attendance Required: To receive credit from NYS OASAS or NYSED, participants must attend the training in its entirety.
Verification: Late arrivals (more than 15 minutes) or early departures may result in the forfeiture of CE credits, as per state board regulations.
Certificates: Digital certificates will be issued via email within 14 business days following successful completion of the course and evaluation.
Payment Policy: Registration is not considered complete for paid courses until tuition is received.
Please submit payment via https://www.farnhaminc.org/FFS-Training-Institute.aspx To prevent delays in your certification, please type the exact name of the course in the Course # / Invoice section. Please email if an invoice is needed.
Minimum Enrollment: The Training Institute reserves the right to cancel any scheduled training session if minimum registration requirements are not met.
Institute Cancellations: In the event that we must cancel a training due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, all registered participants will be notified via email at least 3 business days prior to the start date.
Refunds for Institute Cancellation: If a session is cancelled by the Institute, participants will receive a full refund of their registration fee or may choose to apply the payment as a credit toward a future course.
Cancellations: If you are unable to attend, please notify the Training Institute at 1-315-342-4489 or Training@farnhaminc.org at least 4 days in advance to receive a full refund or credit toward a future course.
No-Shows: Cancellations made after the deadline or "no-shows" are typically not eligible for refunds.
