Curriculum Manager for Music Technology
Having grown up in a musical family, Caroline has been involved with music all her life. She has performed in numerous orchestras and bands over the years, most notably playing at the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and even a TV appearance on Blue Peter with a Japanese Drumming group!
Originally taking Music Technology at Farnborough, Caroline went on to study a degree in Popular Music and Recording at The University of Salford, specialising in arranging (with a particular fondness for lo-fi arrangements, close harmonies and heavy basslines) and recording. She has since recorded many musical artists, from brass bands to punk bands, as well as members of Everything Everything and Sam Gray. Caroline is experienced in vocals and flute and at university she played in a variety of bands and performed in venues across the north of England.
Subject Tutor for Music Technology
Jay is an award winning music producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. Having learnt the craft of music arrangement through playing in bands in the early part of his career, Jay began experimenting with electronic based music in the early 90s. He soon was releasing his own material, which led him on to working with influential artists such as Leftfield, Andrew Weatherall and Sasha and Digweed.
Having moved to London and secured a publishing deal with BMG he began working with numerous artists across genres such as Garage, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop and R&B, most notably producing and co-writing tracks for Phoebe One, who consequently went on to win a Mobo award in 2002. Other labels he has worked for include Universal, Island Records, BMG and Sony Music.
Currently Jay has been composing for Media/TV based companies including the BBC, ITV and Channel 5 on various TV shows and advertisements, alongside co-writing and producing for new and up and coming artists.
Music Technology Subject Tutor (& Music Curriculum Support)
Eloise studied Music Technology and BTEC Music Performance at The Sixth Form College in 2016 before going on to study songwriting, production and performance at a specialist music university. She is always collaborating with other artists, writing and releasing her own music. She plays a range of instruments from acoustic guitar and piano, to banjo. In 2020, Eloise became one of four winners of the ‘Topline’ songwriting competition run by Abbey Road Studios.
Eloise has featured on the 2020 remix of ‘Praying (Goodbye)’, released under the Swedish label, ‘Loudkult’. The track has now surpassed 1.7 million streams on Spotify alone, as well as charting at #23 in the Finland pop charts!
Her tracks have also been played on BBC Music Introducing radio stations, and she has been a featured artist in Spotify editorial playlists such as ‘Lost in the woods’ and ‘Cozy Coffeehouse Covers’.
Eloise regularly plays open mic nights and at small gigs across the country.
Recording Studio Manager
Maisie is a sound engineer, producer and composer. In her early years, she started out as a singer-songwriter, honing her skills in composition and evolving as a lyricist. Later performing in bands led to her becoming a multi-instrumentalist, focusing on electric guitar, vocals and piano. She achieved a grade A in Music Technology at The Sixth Form College in 2015 and began her career in audio by attaining work in the music industry whilst on her gap year.
Maisie has recorded numerous times at Abbey Road Studios, and is a keen vocalist. She has achieved various diplomas and certificates, including studying at the Abbey Road Institute as a sound engineer and producer, mentored by Haydn Bendall (Chief Audio Engineer - Kate Bush, Paul McCartney, Elton John). Maisie specialises in mixing, mastering, contemporary vocal production & song arrangement. In her spare time she works with many external artists & bands - writing, recording and producing in different musical genres.
Maisie holds experience in event organisation and working in live sound. She is the in-house sound engineer and music technician within the department, and is very used to repairing equipment. She shares a passion for synthesizers & technology, and feels most at home when recording in Studio 6 or behind a mixing desk!
