Course Preparation Work
At first, you may find the jump from GCSE to A level biology a little daunting, but if you follow the tips and advice provided, you’ll soon adapt. In addition, the course prep work has been created to give you an idea of the sort of work you might be doing in biology A level and hopefully make that jump a little easier.
Course Prep work Tasks 1 and 2:
Complete the tasks on this worksheet that relates to the topic of the taster session from Getting Ready Day. If you were in the Getting Ready Day taster session then you will have been given a printed copy of this. If you weren't in the session then you can print this out yourself. Please bring this worksheet completed to your first lesson at the start of term for us to go through together.
Below is the video that the worksheet refers to.
2. This guide has been specifically created by AQA to make the transition easier and more successful. It is split into the following 3 sections:
Understanding the specification and the assessments
Transition activities to bridge the move from GCSE to start of the A level course
Progression of key ideas from GCSE to A level.
Read this guide and complete the transition activities before starting A level biology at The Sixth Form College in September. You may choose to complete these electronically or print out the document and complete by hand.
Finally, below is a video produced by Miss Estruch on 'Top tips and advice about how to succeed and survive the jump between GCSE and A level'. It might be worth a watch!
