The Mission of Goodfellows

“No Child or Senior Without a Christmas,” is an Annual Holiday Assistance Program for qualifying families and seniors living in Farmington/Farmington Hills.

History of Goodfellows

More than 60 years ago, a group of "fellows" in the Farmington Exchange Club decided to combine forces with other service clubs in the Farmington area to provide assistance to needy families around Christmas time. The results of the first year were gratifying, and the GOODFELLOWS MOVEMENT was on its way!

Until 1973, the Farmington Exchange Club sponsored the Goodfellows, and today this club, now known as the Xemplar Club, is still the driving force behind the program. Many individuals felt there was a need to establish a separate organization with its own set of bylaws. Although changes have been made over the years, the objective remains the same, "No Child or Senior without a holiday".

Each year, we serve hundreds of families including at-risk children and seniors in Farmington and Farmington Hills. If you or your family would like to volunteer some time to work with our organization, or are in need of assistance from our organization, please contact us.

What is the Neighborhood House?

Neighborhood House is a Farmington Area non-profit agency providing support to help residents in need regain their well-being in the wake of financial and/or economic distress. We provide assistance in the form of a compassionate, listening ear, limited food, furnishings, clothing and financial aid. We offer hope and are a referral agency to other resources within the community and region such as churches and social agencies. One phone call puts community residents in contact with those who care about their needs and can best offer assistance and guidance.

Who May Benefit?

Any individual who has a need for the following:

Food, clothing, rental assistance, utility assistance, medical or dental needs, and/or mental health services.

People facing hunger or a personal problem can look to Neighborhood House for direction. Should a disaster occur, such as a fire, a flood, or a tornado, we provide emergency referrals on an individual basis. Referrals to a counseling program for alcohol or drug abuse, spousal or child abuse or other rehabilitation programs are readily available.
