Dear Farmingdale Families,
The teachers and administrators of Farmingdale School District have been working diligently to prepare the next phase of our remote learning plan.
As we introduce and implement our new plan, we ask for your patience and understanding. You can expect that there will be bumps in the road, but we will do our best to help you navigate the new plan and troubleshoot any problems that arise. Our technical support teams are standing by to assist you. Details on how to get help are at the bottom of this page.
Phase 1 of the remote learning plan that we put in place after our school closure was voluntary. It was meant to help students keep their skills up and maintain their emotional and intellectual connection to school. Phase II is not voluntary for students. Teachers will be interacting with students and providing lessons with new content via Google classroom. They will assign, collect, and give feedback on work. They will also grade work where appropriate and will communicate with parents as needed.
This plan meets the guidelines of the New York State Department of Education and will ensure that students maintain content, skills, and connection to learning while schools are closed. The district will remain sensitive to the stressors and challenges that your families are facing, and how that affects our students.
As we move forward, we will be monitoring everyone’s progress, gathering feedback, and adjusting our plan as necessary.
We know this is a tough time for everyone, but please keep in mind that this is temporary. We will get through it, and our school community can only be strengthened by overcoming the obstacles before us.
Students in grades K - 5 will primarily use Google Classroom to access lessons and interact with their teachers. This platform is compatible with a variety of devices (e.g., Chromebooks, laptops, desktops, smartphones, tablets).
Through Google Classroom:
Teachers will stay connected to their students.
Teachers will create lessons and assignments to engage students and maintain the learning process while at home. The assignments are designed to be completed independently by students. All core subjects and special classes (e.g. art, music, physical education, etc.) are included in this plan.
Teachers may use a range of readings, graphics, videos, online documents and interactive tools as they populate their google classrooms.
The district will also continue to give families access to all of our K-12 digital resources which can be accessed through the Farmingdale remote learning platform. This includes Raz Kids, Dreambox, and many others.

Elementary Remote Learning
Students in grades 6-12 are accustomed to learning in blended online environments using Google Classroom. Building upon students' fluency with digital tools, our teachers have designed instruction that optimizes learning from home for our secondary students.
Students are expected to engage daily and complete each assignment as directed by the teacher.
Teachers may expect students to upload completed work to the appropriate platform.
Teachers and administrators will continue to communicate with parents through email.
