FACS (Family and Consumer Science) is a hands-on class that offers opportunities to learn and practice life skills!
This is a one semester class for 6th/8th grades. One quarter will be doing a Cooking Class and the another quarter will be a Sewing class.
Cooking Lab
In the Cooking Lab they will be in our designated Cooking Classroom. They will be learning a verity of different/basic kitchen skills. Such as kichen saftey, reading recipes, different kinds of food, measuring out their ingredents and they will be learning about nutrition. Cooking is done each week with a variety of different recipes!
Sewing Class
During our Sewing Class students will have the opportunities to practice sewing skills with a sewing machine and how to sew by hand.
Other Experiences
Depending on the grade, we also touch base on other life skills. Such as decision making, baby sitting, how to apply for a job and money management.
