Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS)

FACS (Family and Consumer Science) is a hands-on class that offers opportunities to learn and practice life skills! This semester class in 6th and 8th grade provides one quarter in the cooking lab room highlighting basic kitchen skills (food and kitchen safety, recipe reading, measuring) and nutrition. Cooking is done each week with a variety of recipes to try! During the other quarter, students have opportunities to practice sewing skills with a sewing machine and by hand. Depending on the grade, skills such as decision making, babysitting, how to apply for a job, and money management are also part of the experience.
