The Diplomats began their season last week with the Tucson Invitational Games and claimed five wins across its 12 contests. Notably, F&M held on to a 6-5 win over Wisconsin-La Crosse, who qualified for the NCAA Tournament last year, and run-ruled Salve Regina 10-2. Additionally, in the Diplomats' 8-3 win over St. Catherine, both Jaden Spigner and Nora Sidorski blasted home runs.
On the trip, Alexa Klepper made 10 starts and batted .393 with four runs scored, six RBI and three walks. In three games, the junior posted at least two hits, including against Mount Mary, when she batted 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ainsley McClure earned three wins in the circle and tossed three complete games in five total starts. She also tallied 14 strikeouts, highlighted by five in just three innings of work against St. John Fisher.
Last Time vs. Cabrini
In a double-header against the Cavaliers last season, F&M dropped the opening game before claiming a win in the rematch. Held to just three hits in the first contest, the Diplomats were blanked 4-0 by Cabrini. Despite a complete game effort, Kayla Kilmer suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs.
In game two, F&M led 1-0 after the first five innings before plating two runs each in the sixth and seven innings to win 5-0. Leading the way was Alexa Klepper, who batted 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Cabrini Team Preview
Off to a 2-7 start this year, the Cavaliers won a pair of games on their spring break trip, defeating Dubuque and Penn State Berks. In its latest contest, Cabrini fell to Eastern on the road, 7-1. Coming off of an Atlantic East Conference Championship in 2023, the Cavaliers finished 30-14 last season with a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Among its leaders at the plate has been Kelsey Huling, who is currently batting .400 on the season with two walks and seven RBI. Through seven games this year, the senior has registered three multi-hit games and two multi-RBI games. In the circle, Cabrini pitchers have struggled, posting a team ERA of 6.25 and a batting average allowed of .315. The Cavaliers have given up at least seven runs in five tilts this year, including 13 in their loss to Ohio Christian University.
