Game Notes

The No. 9 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (6-0-5, 4-0 CC) gears up for two road games this week, including its final non-conference game of the 2024 regular season. F&M travels to play Lebanon Valley (6-4-1, 0-0-1 MAC) on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. before heading to Allentown to play Muhlenberg (6-2-3, 2-0-2 CC) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Last Week

The Diplomats went 2-0 in its Centennial Conference (CC) last week with wins over Ursinus and McDaniel. In the 2-0 victory over the Bears, Adam Green got the scoring started in the 37th minute. Sean Lipschutz picked up the insurance goal for the Diplomats in the 81st minute for his second-career goal. The Diplomats peppered the Bears' net with 25 shot attempts and 14 shots on target. Franklin & Marshall found itself behind early against McDaniel, but Jack Borden's goal in the 18th minute tied the game up at 1-1. Koa Kaliebe took over in the second half with goals in the 50th and 84th minute to extend F&M's lead to 3-1. Kaliebe now leads the Diplomats with 12 points and five goals so far this season. Franklin & Marshall totaled 19 shots in the contest, while limiting the Green Terror to just four attempts. Read the full recap here.

Last Time vs. Lebanon Valley

The Diplomats completed a comeback win over Lebanon Valley last year on Tylus Field. Trailing 2-1, Kaliebe tied the game on a shot in the 79th minute. With under three minutes left in regulation, Oscar Horwitz buried his second game-winning goal of the fall to propel F&M past Lebanon Valley, 3-2. Read the full recap here. 

Last Time vs. Muhlenberg

In F&M's 4-2 win over the Mules during the 2023 regular season, the Diplomats registered back-to-back goals in the 11th minute from Horwitz and Nathan Schlessinger to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. Horwitz finished the game with two goals in the match. Goalkeeper Nolan Booth made five saves, including a diving save in the 75th minute to keep Muhlenberg from tying the game. Franklin & Marshall later fell to Muhlenberg, 2-1, in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament. After a Mules goal in the 59th minute, Horwitz notched the game-tying score in the 73rd minute. However, the visitors stunned F&M with the game-winner during the 83rd minute of play. Despite the loss, Franklin & Marshall advanced the NCAA Tournament where it was selected as a host for the first two rounds. Read the full recap here. 

Lebanon Valley Team Preview

Lebanon Valley enters Wednesday's contest having most recently tied Misericordia, 1-1. That tie came after the Dutchmen downed Alvernia, 6-1, and defeated Elizabethtown, 6-0. Aaron Weitzel leads LVC with five goals and 11 points so far this season. Meanwhile, Nathan Ross and Lucas Strange are tied for the team-lead with four each. Goalkeeper Dalton Fitterling holds a 1.22 goals-against average and a save percentage of 78.1 percent.

Muhlenberg Team Preview

The Mules currently remain unbeaten in CC games so far this season with wins over Dickinson and Haverford, while drawing Gettysburg and Johns Hopkins. Seven players are tied for the team-lead of two goals, but Sim Dorsey tallied three assists to lead Muhlenberg in points with seven. Goalkeeper Aidan Niggeman holds a goals-against record of 1.01 and a save percentage of 73.1 percent in seven games in net. Ben Mulford sports a 0.40 goals-against average with a save percentage of 87.7 percent in four games for the Mules.
