Bobby Falese continues to absolutely rake at the dish, with hits in seven of his last 11 plate appearances. Six of those seven hits have gone for extra bases (four doubles, one triple, one homer), as Falese had a 1.167 slugging percentage last weekend across three games.
Now with 33 RBI, Falese now sits within striking distance of the all-time Diplomat mark of 49 set in 2002 by Andy Myers. The sophomore infielder currently sits in a tie for 20th with Jason Anderson, who knocked in 33 during the 2008 season.
F&M currently touts some impressive hitting from the guys normally behind home plate, as Conner Rush (.467), Michael Cole (.361), and Patrick Cettina (.346) have smacked the ball around. Evan Varga hasn't been slouching either, hitting .263 with a .391 OBP.
The Diplomats have seven hitters batting above .300 through at least 25 at-bats, as F&M is hitting .308 on the season. It currently stands as the seventh-best mark in F&M history, and the best since 2009's team that hit .337 at the dish.
F&M's .459 slugging percentage is even more impressive, ranking just behind that 2009 squad that hit .472 on the season. Oh, and the team's OBP ranks sixth, in case you were wondering.
The Diplomats struggle on Tuesdays since the 2014 season, now sitting at 13-19-1 through 23 games. The team has a winning record every other day of the week, coincidentally.
Tommy Denlinger's walkoff homer against McDaniel was the first for the Diplomats since March 23, 2019 when J.J. Freeman walked it off against William Paterson with a grand slam in the 7th.
Pitching has been missing bats consistently this year, currently sitting second in the Centennial with 8.85 K/9. Dickinson leads the CC with 8.86 K/9. Four Diplomats average more than a strikeout an inning - Kyle Roche (12.68), Jason Schulman (12.41), Greg Nieskens (11.81), and Dan Galef (10.69).
Dan Galef continues his strong stretch of pitching, making it now five straight appearances and seven innings without allowing a run. His last three appearances have had at least one inning of setting down three batters via strikeout, as he has K'd 11 through five frames.
