EasyScreenCap is a simple, browser-based screen capture tool. It allows users to record their screen (as a full screen, a specific application window, or a browser tab) and optionally include audio from their microphone.
No data is sent to any server, ensuring user privacy. The final output is provided as an MP4 video file for download.
Screen Recording: Capture any part of your display.
Microphone Audio: Optionally record audio from a selected microphone.
Audio Source Selection: If multiple microphones are present, you can choose which one to use.
Live Preview: See a real-time preview of what is being captured.
MP4 Output: Saves recordings in the common MP4 format.
No Installation: Runs entirely from a web page or a single HTML file.
Privacy-Focused: All processing is done locally on your computer.
Simple Interface: A clean, dark-mode UI with clear, step-by-step controls.
A Modern Web Browser: The tool relies on the getDisplayMedia API, which is supported by most modern browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.
Permissions: You must grant the browser permission to access your screen and (if selected) your microphone.
Follow these steps to make a recording:

Click the "Include Microphone" checkbox.
Your browser will ask for permission to access your microphone. Click "Allow".
A new dropdown menu will appear, listing all available microphones. Select the one you wish to use.
Click the blue "Start Capture" button.
Your browser will open a dialog box asking what you want to share. You can typically choose between:
Your Entire Screen
An Application Window
A Specific Browser Tab
Select the content you want to record and click "Share".
After you click "Share," a live preview of your selected screen will appear in the video box. The status text will update to "Ready to record," and the "Start Record" button will become active.
Click the green "Start Record" button.
The recording is now active! The preview box will get a glowing blue border, and the status will change to "Recording in progress...".
The "Start Record" button will be replaced by a red "Stop Record" button.
When you are finished, click the "Stop Record" button.
After stopping, the tool will take a moment to process the video.
The status area will update to "Your file is ready!" and a new section will appear with a large green "Download File" button.
Click this button to save the screen-recording.mp4 file to your computer.
To make a new recording, simply start again from Step 3.
Error: "Screen capture is blocked in this view."
Cause: This error can sometimes appear if the browser's security settings are very high or if you are running the tool in an unusual environment (like an iframe).
Solution: As a fallback, you can download the HTML file (right-click on the page > Save As...) and open it directly from your computer (e.g., file:///C:/Users/YourName/Downloads/EasyScreenCap.html). This often bypasses stricter browser security policies.
