Choose the description that best fits your target audience and the specific features of your app.
Step 1: Create a Google Calendar
First, you'll need to create a Google Calendar where you can synchronize all your Annual Wheel activities.
Go to Google Calendar.
In the left-hand menu, under "My calendars," go to "Other calendars" and select "Create calendar."
Give the calendar a name, such as "Annual Wheel Calendar," and add a description if desired.
Click "Create calendar."
Once the calendar is created, click the gear icon in the top right corner and select "Settings."
Scroll down to the "Calendar ID" section under your calendar and copy the calendar ID (it looks like an email address).
Step 2: Make a copy of the Annual Wheel Google Sheets file
Click "Make a copy" to get your own version of the document.
Once the copy is created, open the file.
Step 3: Add the Calendar ID to the Installation Sheet
Go to the "Installation" tab in your copy of the Annual Wheel file.
In cell A2, paste the calendar ID that you copied in step 1.
Now the calendar is linked to Google Sheets and ready to sync.
Step 4: Authorize the Script
The first time you run the script to sync data between your Annual Wheel and Google Calendar, you'll need to grant the script permission.
Click on the menu "Calendar Sync" in Google Sheets and select "Sync to Calendar".
A pop-up window will appear asking you to authorize the script to access your calendar (see image "Authorization required").
Click "OK" to continue.
You will be redirected to a login page where you need to log in to your Google account and confirm the permissions.
Select your Google account.
Click "Advanced" and choose "Go to project".
Click "Allow" to grant the script access.
Once the authorization is complete, the synchronization can proceed.
Step 5: Protected cells
When you try to edit certain areas of the Annual Wheel, you may encounter a warning that says "Warning: You are trying to edit a part of this sheet that should not be changed accidentally." This means that these cells are protected because they are linked to functions or scripts in the document.
What do I do if I see the warning?
If you see this warning, you should avoid changing the protected cells as this may affect the document's functionality and the logic of the script code. The protection is in place to prevent accidental changes.
You start working in the overview sheet. Each month there has a section. Each section has 2 columns. The left column is for the Title of the event being planned and the right column for the Description of the event. These are important because they will automatically be in place in the month's sheet when you get there after the overall planning that you do in the overview. Never write Title and Description directly in the monthly sheet because then you break the connection between the sheets.
In the monthly sheet, you make more detailed planning per month. There is one sheet for each month. They contain the following headings. Start Date, End Date, Title, Description, Week, Tasks, Responsibility, Resource, Other, Invited. Below you see an example of detailed planning
Click Calendar Sync at the top of the sheet. Then your detailed planning for all months' detailed planning is sent to the calendar. It will skip previous events that were previously synced and add to the calendar. If you change the time, the sync will not update the previously created calendar event, but will only add a new event to the calendar. You will then need to go to the calendar and delete the old event, so it may be good to think about it in the detailed planning before the synchronization.
You can see a log from the last synchronization in the Installation sheet.
You see the calendar event as a full-day event in the calendar.
You can see the detailed information in the event when you open it.
