I'm not sure if you're familiar with the movie "The Greatest Showman" but in my household, musicals are a fan favorite. There is a song in this film entitled "This is Me" and we can't help but sing it loudly every time it comes on. Students in our classroom have been working hard this year to grow their skills and grow as a community of learners. They are embracing who they are as individuals and growing confidence in how they learn differently. The lyrics of this song come to my mind and I'm filled with so much joy as I watch each student shine. I'm proud of who we are and what we are becoming together.
"When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown 'em out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me"
