Hello Parents,
Welcome to 5th Grade Music! This year all students are able to participate in Band, Orchestra, or Choir. Students will be able to “test drive” Band and Orchestra instruments with the opportunity to perform in one of the three groups this year. Classes for these performance ensembles will meet during their regular music class at school.
Any fifth grade student is eligible to begin lessons. The success of these students depends heavily on parental support. Parents need to know the facts about the music program, the schedule, the teacher, the concert schedule, where to rent or purchase instruments of high quality, what books and supplies are needed, etc. Most important of all – HOW MUCH WILL INSTRUMENTS COST? To help with all of your questions we will have our instrument meeting on:
Band and Orchestra only
Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 7:00 p.m.
At Gilles-Sweet Elementary School, Cafetorium
Rental Companies will be present to answer questions and to order instruments!
If you are considering starting an instrument this year, please attend the meeting BEFORE searching online for an instrument. Many instruments found on popular websites like Amazon, EBay, or Facebook Marketplace are not good quality and cost more money, student distress, or problems than necessary.
We recommend students have their instrument by the week of Sept. 15 - 18, 2025.
