NOTE: If you are interested in working behind-the-scenes (backstage help, hair & makeup, costuming, etc.), please go directly to the Sign Up Page for more information.
Please read all the information on this page and all of the other pages included on this audition site thoroughly. Roles in this production include singing parts, speaking parts, and non-speaking parts. NOTE: There is a great need for lots of people in several "crowd" scenes. These are great for beginners, or those who would like to be part of the show but don't want a speaking role. All roles require simple dancing and either singing or lip syncing. THIS IS VERY DOABLE FOR A BEGINNER! Also note that all speaking roles will require a light British accent.
To audition, please follow these steps:
1. Familiarize yourself with the show by clicking on the Script page. You will be able to read and download the complete script.
2. Click on the Characters page for a complete list of characters. Identifying specific character(s) you’d like to audition for prior to auditions will help you be prepared. You may audition for more than one character.
3. Click on the Rehearsal Schedule page to view the rehearsal and performance schedule. Rehearsals begin in the summer and continue until production time in December. Rehearsals will be on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings. Not all actors will be called for rehearsal each day, so it is possible we can work around many scheduling conflicts. A detailed schedule indicating exactly which rehearsals each cast member will be expected to attend will be created (after reviewing cast members’ availability) and will be handed out at our read-through on June 11. PLEASE NOTE: We are planning to do a Friday morning matinee for local school children on Friday, December 8, so you must be able to get off work/school or free your schedule of other obligations that Friday morning.
4. Click on the Audition Materials page, where you will find a packet to download that contains specific instructions on exactly what will be required from each character at auditions.
5. Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21. Auditions will be held from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon on Saturday, May 20. Children will be auditioned from 9:00-10:00 a.m., and adults will be auditioned from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (we may not need the entire 3 hours). Callbacks/make ups will be held on Sunday, May 21 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. (You will be notified if you are needed to come for a Callback.)
6. Click on the Audition Form page. Print and fill out the form completely & bring it with you to your audition.
7. Click on the Commitment Pledge page. After reading this pledge carefully and thoroughly, please note any potential schedule conflicts, print, sign and bring it with you to your audition. Producing a show with a volunteer cast and production crew is a huge undertaking. It takes great dedication, time, energy and sacrifice to successfully and cohesively bring a show of this magnitude together. Your commitment is key to the team’s success and receiving your pledge is an acknowledgement of that commitment. Thank you for your commitment!
8. You can sign up for an audition in the Worship Center lobby on May 7th or 14th, or you can click on the Sign-Up page.
Day of Audition - Saturday, May 20 (9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon)
Bring the following completed forms: Audition Form and Commitment Pledge.
Auditions will be held in an open format. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script in front of the group as a whole (this is a good opportunity to learn from your peers), as well as sing in front of the group if you are auditioning for a singing role.
Everyone will go through a series of movement and improv exercises to assess reflexes and agility, as several of the songs in the musical will be choreographed.
CALLBACKS/Make ups - Sunday, May 21 (2:00-4:00 p.m.)
Callbacks will be held for a select group of actors. During your callback, you may be asked to read from the script, sing a song, or perform movement. Being called back does not mean that you will be cast; it just means we need additional opportunity to evaluate your skills. In the same light, not being called back does not mean you will not be cast, but simply that we feel we saw all we needed to see at your first audition. If you are called back, you will receive an e-mail or phone call from the production staff detailing what you should prepare.
Everyone who auditions will receive a complete cast list by email no later than Friday, May 26.
Thanks for your interest and we look forward to seeing you at auditions!
