“Summer afternoon – summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
– Henry James, quoted in Edith Wharton’s A Backward Glance
Summer is the perfect time to read a good book! Choose a book from your grade-level list and make it your own. For our high school students, the assignment is simple: just read—and when you finish one book, we hope you’ll pick up another.
Summer reading will be assessed at the start of the school year in English class. Annotating and note-taking throughout the summer are encouraged but optional. What matters most is that you choose something that interests you from our curated list and read, read, read!
Try setting aside a little time each day. Reading just a few pages every day this summer can make a big difference.
Read on, and have a great summer!
