Sailing

TRYOUT INFORMATION

• Must be registered on through the FWHS Athletic Registration

• Updated Physical must be on file with the FWHS school nurse

• All Sailors must return signed Fairfield County Sailing League Waiver Agreement and Emergency Information Form 

• All Sailors must return signed Pequot Yacht Club Waiver Form

Sailors must demonstrate the following proficiencies:

• Sailors must pass a swim test held in the harbor. Sailors must swim in their dry suits around a safety boat and demonstrate their ability to withstand water temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

• Students must pass a sailing test conducted during team try-outs and demonstrate their ability to skipper or crew a 420.

• Students must pass a written examination demonstrating their knowledge of safe boating and the racing rules of sailing.
