Sailing is a CO-OP sport with Ludlowe High School. The organization that oversees the Sailing CO-OP requires each school to have a minimum number of sailors and their own vessels. Each year we will evaluate the feasibility of this opportunity based on registration numbers.
TRYOUT INFORMATION
Must be registered on through the FWHS Athletic Registration
Updated Physical must be on file with the FWHS school nurse
All Sailors must return signed Fairfield County Sailing League Waiver Agreement and Emergency Information Form
All Sailors must return signed Pequot Yacht Club Waiver Form
Sailors must demonstrate the following proficiencies:
Sailors must pass a swim test held in the harbor. Sailors must swim in their dry suits around a safety boat and demonstrate their ability to withstand water temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Students must pass a sailing test conducted during team try-outs and demonstrate their ability to skipper or crew a 420.
Students must pass a written examination demonstrating their knowledge of safe boating and the racing rules of sailing.
