Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to postpone the McKinley Family Picnic scheduled for this afternoon. The tentatively rescheduled date is Friday, June 9, 6-8pm. Apologies for the last minute date change. We understand that this is the same evening following the 5th grade moving up ceremony and some of you may not be able to attend due to already scheduled plans. Unfortunately, this is the only date available. Thank you for your patience!
Field Day was a great success! The sun was shining brightly and the kids had fun! Many thanks to Mr. Doylak for organizing Field Day and making it easy for our volunteers to pitch in. What a wonderful idea to have a group of 5th graders help set up the games and assist the younger classes. Thanks to all of our parent/guardian volunteers for braving the heat to make sure the games and hydration station ran smoothly all day long! And finally, thank you to the 5th grade class for sponsoring the obstacle course and slide!

Dear Families,
The end of the school year is quickly approaching. We need to begin the process of checking-in and shelving all borrowed books. The final due date for all books is June 1st. We ask you to please look carefully at home for any McKinley library books, and kindly return them as soon as possible. All our books have a “McKinley School Library” barcode sticker on the front or back cover (see image). We appreciate your help!

Our final staff appreciation event of the year took place Friday during Field Day! Thanks to PTA Member Lauren Connelly for organizing the taco bar catered by Taco Loco Many thanks to all the volunteers who provided beverages, paper goods and desserts. The spread looked delicious! Staff members commented how much they appreciated the lunch.
Thanks to Lauren for organizing these events all year long. Our PTA is fortunate to be able to fund events such as these, as well as rely on help from donations from our generous school community
Please encourge your child to visit the "Lost and Found" items in th eback of our main hall. All items not picked up by Tuesday, June 13th will donated.
As the weather gets warmer, send your child with a water bottle (They can refill at school). Students need to wear safe shoes for recess and PE. No flip flops please.

Senator Tony Hwang is moderating a Mental Health Awareness Forum on Tuesday, June 13th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club of Southport.
This forum is a rare and timely opportunity to bring key experts to the table and go beyond rhetoric to hear their stories. Their experience and insight are key to finding solutions on how we can help youth within our community and within our homes.
