Peaceful protests and marches occurred widely during the American Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. himself led many monumental marches in the country. Dr. King believed in a nonviolent approach to ending segregation, even if the opposition became violent. Thousands of brave people risked their lives to march and protest for equal rights for all races.
