Indiana College Core

Do you want to get a head start on college? The Indiana College Core allows high school students to earn 30 general education credits that can be transferred as a block to any public college or university in Indiana, as well as some private institutions. In other words, students who earn the College Core in high school may already be finished with their first year of college at a fraction of the cost. To learn more about the Indiana College Core and put together your plan, use My College Core (mycollegecore.org) and work closely with your school counselor.

Dual Credit
Dual credit is the term given to courses in which high school students have the opportunity to  earn both high school and college credits simultaneously.  Studies show that dual credit increases the likelihood that a student will complete high school, as well as enroll in and continue in college.  It also decreases cost of tuition and fees for students by completing up to a year or more of college credit. All Ivy Tech dual credit students have access to IVYTech’s student resources, such as library, tutoring, career exploration, and much more.

• ENGL 111 & ENGL 215 (Senior Level English)

• MATH 136 (Pre-Calc A)

• SDEV 120 Computing Logic (Principles of Computing)

AP courses are high school classes taught at a college level and approved by College Board.  At the conclusion of the course, students take an AP exam.  Students who score 3/5 or higher on the exam may receive college credit for the course.  The college a student may enroll in the future will determine which courses they will award based on your exam score.  AP courses offered at Fairfield include :

Career Exploration Internship (12th Grade Only)

This program will provide seniors with opportunities to practice necessary skills they will need in order to experience success after high school.  Students will take courses for part of the day at school and spend the other part of the day in an internship related to their career interest.

Apprenticeships (11th & 12th Grade Only)

CareerWise modern youth apprentices split their time between their traditional high school classroom and the workplace. They earn a wage while receiving hands-on work experience where they can apply their classroom learning each week.
