Marco S. Giarratana presently serves as the Vice-Rector of Research and Coordination at IE University in Madrid, Spain, where he also holds the position of Strategy Professor. 

His earlier academic roles include that of Associate Professor at the University Carlos III in Madrid and Full Professor at Bocconi University in Milan. 

His research predominantly explores themes such as diversification through synergy versus redeployment, intellectual property rights with an emphasis on patents and trademarks, and strategic approaches to sustainability. 

Currently, he leads the SOCIALIPR Research Project as the Principal Investigator. He is the current Program Chair for the IG Knowledge & Innovation at the Strategic Management Society.
