MARCO S. GIARRATANA

Short Bio

Marco S. Giarratana is the Vice-Rector of Research and Coordination at IE University in Madrid, Spain, where he is also a Professor of Strategy. His previous academic appointments include Associate Professor at the University Carlos III in Madrid and Full Professor at Bocconi University in Milan.

Marco’s research focuses on key strategic topics, including diversification strategies (synergy vs. redeployment), intellectual property rights—particularly patents and trademarks—and sustainability-driven business strategies.

He currently leads the SOCIALIPR Research Project as Principal Investigator, exploring the intersection of intellectual property and social impact. Marco also serves as Chair of the Knowledge & Innovation Interest Group at the Strategic Management Society and is an Associate Editor at the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
