What is schematic design stage?

Schematic design is the first phase of basic services for project design. At this stage in a project, the design professional describes the project three-dimensionally. A range of alternative design concepts are explored to define the character of the completed project and an optimum realization of the project program.

Start with diagrams (bubbles or mind map) and intentions in the space.

Review the best option and go for it!.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS:  The following design considerations are essential to the development of a design concept for the exhibition design.

●      The design solution should not in any way be a graphic design proposal, they need to interact with the interior space.

●      The client is looking for a creative design proposal that communicates the essence of World Design Capital.

●      The space must be accessible and in compliance with local, state and federal building codes.

●      Create an experience where past World Design Capital host cities are showcased, as well as their legacy.

DELIVERABLES

The required deliverables are as follows:

• A Concept Board which includes the concept statement, (re do the one you presented as mood board after the comments) sketches, photos or other visual ideas to communicate the design direction. 

• Schematic drawings board may also be included in a different board.

Presentation Board(s) showing:

• a) Plans:  (general floor plans-elevation with ambience on the facade and interior gallery (smaller scale to visualize the complete window displays)

• b) Individual floor plans, elevations an a section for each window display (larger scale)

• c) Mood boards for color, material and lighting.

• d) Technical drawings for detalis (al list 3 details)

• e) 3D renderings or collages to help visualize the design.

Presentation of the above deliverables should be uploaded on the bottom marked as "Final" all pdf boards under a file with your name AND a set of prited boards. (I will figure it out how to set up something in canvas to upload also).

Suggestion for Size of these boards 11”x17” 

What I will be grading:

20 % Presentation: cleanliness, order, unity and presentation (verbal and drawing)

40 % Formal view, composition and creativity.

40 % Function view, solution.

*The dead line for the video is friday february 17th at 6 pm. If you don't upload your video you will NOT be graded. (5 min maximum)
