ELE has replaced the BMBS Googlesites, which is now archived. For all current BMBS Programme information you will now need to refer to ELE.
These are awards voted for by the students of the University of Exeter Medical School. They have been created to recognise the positive contributions made by the staff to the School and student community.
They will reward those who go beyond what is expected in their job description to assist students, facilitate learning, inspire and motivate, and those who exhibit the qualities and values that students aspire to. Whilst it is acknowledged that staff may meet the above in the execution of their normal duties, the idea is that it will be those who go above and beyond their normal role who will be nominated for an award from one of the below categories.
Each of the undergraduate programmes BMBS, Medical Sciences, Neuroscience, Sport and Exercise Medical Science, Post Graduate can award up to 3 awards, from each of the following categories:
Most Inspirational Teacher (BMBS Clinical and Pre Clinical)
Supporting Hand (Shoulder Donor)
Educational Inspirer
Nominations for the Academic year 2024/5 need to be submitted by 20th June 2025 by contacting your SSLC rep. Once you have decide on your staff aureus winners please email uems-prizes@exeter.ac.uk with your winners.
These awards for the BMBS programme aim to reward excellence and innovation in the provision of clinical teaching across the main clinical years 3-5.
This could include:
Particular resources developed specifically for students in that department or team
The department/ team or practice that is always organised and enthusiastic about teaching
The team that goes the extra mile in delivering additional teaching sessions or opportunities
Teaching in a whole different way from that normally delivered, to cater to students direct needs
This is not an exhaustive list, but may help guide nominations. The awards cover both main clinical localities, secondary and primary care. There are 4 awards.
The categories are:

Excellence and Innovation in Clinical Teaching Team - Hospital team, Truro locality
Excellence and Innovation in Clinical Teaching Team - GP team, Exeter locality
Excellence and Innovation in Clinical Teaching Team - GP team, Truro locality.
Nominations, together with your reasons for nominating, should be sent to uems-prizes@exeter.ac.uk by 20th June for the academic year 2024/5.
