What Your Academic Tutor (and Academic Tutor Group) Can Do For You
Your Academic Tutor is there to offer you support, guidance and advice on any academic issue you might have during your time here with us in Exeter. They should be your first port of call if you need some guidance and advice and can't find answers from module ELE pages or from the campus Info Points (St. Luke's for CSC modules or Peter Chalk for BIO modules).
You will meet with your Academic Tutor and fellow tutees in Academic Tutor Groups (ATGs) throughout the Academic Year. Each ATG session will focus on a particular theme that is relevant to what you will be doing (or about to do) elsewhere on the course. The syllabus will also provide you with the opportunity to work on developing academic and professional skills that will help you achieve success in other modules and also enhance your employability skills. These sessions will also allow you to share your thoughts, experiences and questions with your tutor and, equally as important, with your fellow tutees.
In Years 1 and 2 (and the Professional Training Year), your Academic Tutor will assess your professional conduct throughout the Academic Year by completing and submitting the Professionalism Award Assessment on your behalf, which will contribute to the Fundamental Skills for Medical Scientists module in Year 1, the Experimental Design and Statistics module in Year 2 and the Professional Training Year.
Professionalism Award Assessment
Your Academic Tutor is there to support you in achieving all of these criteria and he/she can meet with you on an individual basis if circumstances arise that prevent you from doing so. Please keep in touch with your academic tutor if you have any questions or if any issues arise
