The design answer is tasks where thinking is traceable regardless of whether AI was involved. AI detection becomes irrelevant when the task requires visible reasoning. Detection tools exist because output-only assessment displaced a teacher's professional judgement. Better design recovers it.
Be explicit about expectations: Make it very clear where AI is permitted, where it's not, and why.
